The Billings Public Library Historic Collection is comprised of items from Billings Public Library which depict or describe people, places events, or other information important to the history of Montana beyond Billings and Yellowstone County.

This collection contains photographs of events that occurred in the Billings area.

Billings- Images of People 

The purpose of the Billings Public Library collections is to convey the history of Billings and Yellowstone County (Montana) in photographs, images of noteworthy documents and monographs. These records include information about the pioneers who first settled in the area, first buildings and industries; as well as notable books, historic documents and letters. At the time the items were chosen for inclusion in the Montana Memory Project, they were part of the physical collection in the Montana Room at the Billings Public Library in Billings, Montana.

Montana Vintage Postcards

Postcards from the Billings Public Library archive date back to the early 1900's and depict life in Montana cities, as well as the conditions of recreation areas, roads, waterways and highways. The images show sights that residents and travelers were fascinated by in the early days of Montana. The city images portray government buildings, street scenes and shops. Recreation areas illustrate lakes, rivers, campers, rodeos and early vehicles. Some postcards have personal messages about travel in Montana.
